He went on trial for treason in 1956-1961 and was acquitted in 1961.

After the banning of the ANC in 1960, Nelson Mandela argued for the setting up of a military wing within the ANC. In June 1961, the ANC executive considered his proposal on the use of violent tactics and agreed that those members who wished to involve themselves in Mandela's campaign would not be stopped from doing so by the ANC. Will Android's slowing growth be an opening for Windows Phone?

Android remains king of the smartphones, but its growth in 2013 was the slowest at any time in its history. Can Windows Phone make inroads as Android potentially swoons?

The latest market figures from Strategy Analytics have both good news and bad news for Android. First the good news: In 2013 Android widened its lead over the iPhone, Windows Phone, and other smartphones, with a remarkable 78.9% of all smartphones shipped in the world. That adds up to 781.2 million units, well ahead of 153.4 million for the iPhone, and 35.7 million for Windows Phones.

If you're looking at market share figures, that's 78.9% for Android, 15.5% for the iPhone, and 3.6% for Windows Phone in 2013. In the fourth quarter alone, though, Android didn't do quite so well, with a 78.4% market share, the iPhone with a 17.6% market share, and Windows Phone with a 3.2% market share. That means that the iPhone took market share away from Android as well as Windows Phone. You can see all the figures, below.

2 brothers die of magun after sleeping with uncles’ wives in Ibadan

Two brothers, Kunmi and Adeniyi Adetokun died within days of each late last year in Oyo state and family members say it was after they slept with their uncles' wives. The uncle, (pictured above) is accused of killing the brothers with a deadly anti-adultery charm commonly known as Magun. He was attacked and nearly killed by irate youths following the death of the second brother. He is lying critically ill in a hospital in Ibadan.

Tribune reports the full story. Find it below...
The incident happened at Jagun community near Iyana Ofa, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State towards the end of 2013 when two blood brothers, Kunmi and Adeniyi Adetokun, died, one after the other, within three days, allegedly of a local charm used to punish adulterous men, commonly referred to as magun in Yoruba.
This literally translates ‘don’t climb’ in English. But the two brothers climbed the metaphorical mountains that were too high for them. And they somersaulted down the hills, breaking their necks in the process. The occurrence, however, sparked off anger among the youth of the community, resulting in them setting ablaze the residence of the Balogun of the community, Chief Segun Oyetade, the deceased’s uncle, as he was suspected to have been responsible for the duo’s death. They also attacked him with weapons but was only saved when the youth got a hint that policemen were approaching.
The scene opened on Monday, December 2, 2013 when Kunmi reportedly died after having sex with a woman allegedly laced with magun and who was said to be his aunt-in-law. The woman was said to be his uncle’s wife.

Seven Gay Men Arrested In Bauchi

According to a report by Channels TV, seven men appeared in court in Bauchi on Wednesday, Jan. 22, on charges of being involved in same-sex relationships.
The case drew thousands of protesters to the court, who threw stones at the men as they were being transported back to prison after the trial, as security forces fired into the air to disperse the angry crowd.
The men were arrested by the Bauchi State Sharia Commission for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities, acts that contravene the Islamic laws which the state had been operating under since 2001.
The men were named as Shehu Adamu, Yusuf Adamu, Aliyu Dalhatu, Abdulmalik Tanko, Usman Sabo and Hazif Sabo Abubakar and Ibrahim Marafa. Continue...
It was the first case since President Goodluck Jonathan signed a bill that criminalises same-sex relationships, defying Western pressure over gay rights and provoking criticism from the United States.

The bill, which contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison and bans gay marriage, same-sex “amorous relationships” and membership of gay rights groups, was passed by the National Assembly last May but Jonathan had delayed signing it into law until early January.

At Thursday’s trial, the prosecuting lawyer said the case was a direct result of the recently-passed law.

“This is further to the law against homosexuals which was signed by the President. It has to be implemented. People caught breaking this law must be prosecuted accordingly,” said Danlami Ayuba.

The trial was adjourned to January 27.

Hong Kong billionaire doubles reward for any man who can make lesbian daughter straight

Hong Kong billionaire Cecil Chao, has offered a whooping $130million to any man who can sweep his lesbian daughter, Gigi Chao (right) off her feet, marry her and give him grandchildren. Gigi ran away with her female lover sometime last year in France.

The billionaire businessman who made headline in Sept 2012 when he offered a reward of $65million to any man who can take his daughter off her female lover, has reportedly upped the money to $130million after all prospective suitors failed to win his daughter's heart. And according to reports, many men tried. His first offer reportedly attracted more more 20,000 unsuccessful suitors. I'm sure some of them were Nigerians...lol.
In a recent interview with Financial Times, Mr Chao said:
"I will give them a moderately deluxe life. I would not force her to marry a man, but obviously I would prefer her to be married and give me grand children"
Gigi Chao in an interview with Malaysian newspaper, Nanyang Siang Pau, said;
“I don’t think my dad’s offering of any amount of money would be able to attract a man I would find attractive. I would be happy to befriend any man willing to donate huge amounts of money to my charity, Faith in Love, provided they don't mind that I already have a wife. Third and lastly, thank you daddy, I love you too.”
